equanimity: (n) mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation

in a sentence: When kids pretend they can’t hear you, it can be hard to maintain your equanimity, especially after repeating yourself several times.


poise: (n) a dignified, self-confident manner or bearing; composure; self-possession. (v) to be or cause to be held in suspension; to balance.

in a sentence: Little Clara had such grace and poise during her ballet recital, even after one of her classmates stumbled and knocked everyone over. She got up, kept smiling, and danced beautifully. Such confidence, such poise!
